Teresa Fittin, age 18, disappeared from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on August 1, 1975.

Teresa, nicknamed Bunny, resided in an apartment at 2713 SW 13th Court with her boyfriend in 1975.   She was a student at Stranahan High School, and worked a a waitress at a Hilton Hotel.

Shortly before her disappearance, Teresa visited her mother, and told her she would be off for the next three days.  She asked her mother to wash her work uniforms before leaving to return home.

Once home, according to Teresa’s boyfriend, the two argued, and Teresa said she was going out to her car to calm down.  Instead, she got into her car, a gray 1966 Nash Rambler, and drove off. Neither Teresa nor her car were seen again.

Teresa left most of her belongings behind, including $300 in cash that was left on her dresser.  Her wallet, however, was found in the Riverdale Branch library ten days after she disappeared.

A friend of Teresa’s told Teresa’s mother that Teresa had suspected she might be pregnant in the days prior to her disappearance, but her mother hadn’t known anything about it until Teresa was already missing.

A strange occurrence took place the year following her disappearance, when Teresa’s grandmother confronted a well known psychic, Peter Hurkos, in regard to Teresa’s disappearance.  Initially, Teresa’s mother visited the psychic, at a hotel where he was appearing with an actress, Kathryn Grayson, on a joint bill.

After several meetings with the psychic and no viable theories, Teresa’s mother requested back the photos and articles of clothing that she had supplied.  He initially refused to return them.

As a result, Teresa’s grandmother went to the hotel to demand Teresa’s belongings back. As soon as she entered the room, she was punched in the face by Kathryn Grayson, for unknown reasons. Grayson was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Teresa remains missing 43 years later, and her car was never located.  I’ve never seen any indication of whether her boyfriend was ever considered a suspect in her disappearance, or whether he attempted to search for her. It’s worth noting that he was the one who reported her missing.

Teresa’s mother ended up employed by Fort Lauderdale Police Department after Teresa vanished. She said she took the job so she could be more informed on any developments.  She retired in 2003, but has not given up on finding Teresa.

Teresa wanted to be an artist or an oceanographer.
